Form
Some projects begin with a form, some with an idea. Sometimes the idea is the form itself. Sometimes, the form becomes evident through research, prototyping, user testing, and more (feel free to check out those Modules for more context!)
In either case, the form is the container for your ideas. It communicates, overtly or subtly, the systems within which your work operates. Forms have inherent affordances or qualities (lucky you, there’s a module on that, too!)
Forms contain features, and these features can be stylistic (like a recognizable typeface, sonic style, a physical form that signals educational material), or experiential (what does the form ask the user to do? Is there a specific context this form is generally seen in?)
//Guiding Questions
- How do I find the right container to translate my ever-emergent inquiries?
- What is the best tool for me to use to communicate my critical lens?
- When is form a metaphor? How might I bend the affordances of my form to communicate my ideas in expected and unexpected ways?
